Thanksgivings Babies
by LP

Keith lead Allura into the nursery for the surprise that he had for her. He saw it in a little antique shop on Planet Trezo. The shop owner was so glad that the Voltron Force saved his shop from being destroyed that he let each one of them have anything in the shop that they wanted. Pidge picked out an old lava lamp. Hunk picked out an old terran tape deck. Lance found a beautiful old charm bracelet for his wife Farla. The newest member to the team was now the pilot of Blue Lion, Captain Rick Flair. He picked out something he wanted as a kid but could never afford: a scooter. Keith choose an old wicker rocking chair that he knew Allura would love. It was made out of oak wood and had an ottoman. It also had a spindle back and a fabric seat. "Uh, Keith," Lance asked, "how are we gonna get it back to planet Arus?"

Keith replied, "I’ll put it in Black Lion and secure it down. That way it won’t slip and slide. I just have to think of how we can sneak it into the castle without Allura knowing." escapade

Now, Keith lead a blindfolded and very nine months pregnant Allura into the nursery. He took off the blindfold and she finally saw his gift to her. Allura gushed put her hand to her mouth while tears filled her eyes. What special gifts for Keith to give her. She went to Keith and gave him a huge hug.

"Thank you so much!"

"No, thank you. Thank you for having my babies. You will never know how grateful I am to you, Allura."

Allura suddenly felt something running down her legs.

She whispered to Keith, "Honey, my water just broke. I’m going into labor."

Keith swept Allura into his arms and headed to the castle infirmary immediately. He and Allura would have to miss the Thanksgiving dinner celebration with the people.

Keith yelled to a passing guard, "Inform the others that Princess Allura has gone into labor. Have them meet us in the castle infirmary.

Also, make sure that Coran does not postpone the Thanksgiving dinner. Ask him to make a speech informing the people of this."

In the castle infirmary, Keith rushed through the doors.

"Where is Dr. Gorma?" he asked the nurse.

Nurse Tori assessed the situation and motioned for Keith to bring Allura to the labor room.

"Please step outside for a moment," she said to Keith.

He nodded and turned to Allura.

"I’ll be right outside, sweetheart," he said, kissing the top of her head. He left the room.

Tori helped Allura get undressed and into the hospital gown to prepare for labor. She helped Allura onto the bed just when another labor pain hit. Allura grabbed onto her.

"I need an epideral right now for the pain!"

"But your highness, it’s too early for something for the pain."

Allura tried to argue with her, but Tori would not back down. Once the pain subsided, Allura calmed down a bit and Tori went to get Keith.

"Please go in there and try to keep her calm."

Keith nodded and went back into the room. He held her hand and said, "Sweetheart, please keep calm. I will be right here with you every step of the way."

Allura growled, "You are never coming near my body again."

"Yes, dear. Whatever you say."

Dr. Gorma came in from time to time to check the babies’ heartbeats and Allura dilation. Allura yelled with every contraction, which were coming closer and closer. And Keith tried to keep her calm each time, and each time he thanked the heavens he gave her his left hand to hold on to. It may be broken by the time this was over, but at least he’d still be able to function. She finally receive her epideral after a couple of hours and the pain was a lot easier to deal with.

After five hours, the doctor finally said the words they’d all been waiting for.

"It’s time to start pushing."

Keith wiped the sweat from Allura’s face. They exchanged smiles.

"OK, Allura, bear down and push. Remember to push as hard as you can."

Allura nodded that she understood and began to push. After several pushes, the first baby made it’s presence known. A baby boy screamed his way into the world.

Dr. Gorma cut the umbilical cord and Nurse Tori carefully took the baby to clean him and check his vitals.

Allura suddenly tensed up. "Here comes the other one," she said.

Being so weak from the first baby, it took some gentle coaching from Keith to get Allura to push hard enough for the second. After fifteen minutes, the second child, another boy, came into the world.

"Papa, would you like to cut the umbilical cord this time?"

A beaming Keith vigorously nodded his head. He did the honors and Tori took this baby away too to be cleaned up.

Allura fell back onto the pillow, exhausted after giving birth to her two children.

Dr. Gorma said, "Both babies weight six pounds, seven ounces and are twenty-one inches long."

He handed one baby to Keith and one to Allura. They both had Keith’s unruly raven black hair and Allura’s blue eyes.

"Our babies are the most beautiful, handsome boys ever seen," Allura whispered.

Dr. Gorma smiled at the new parents. "So, what are you naming them?"

Allura looked into Keith’s eyes. "You do the honors."

"Prince David Alfor Armstrong and Prince Jacob Xavier Armstrong," Keith proudly said. "Perfect names for our babies."

Allura yawned and her eyelids became heavy. Dr. Gorma came over to take little Prince David out of her arms. She tried to protest, but her exhaustion won and she fell asleep immediately. Keith placed a kiss on her forehead and then he and the doctor took the twins to see the rest of the family.

"I am officially a daddy," Keith announced to the waiting room.

The group of people cheered came over to huddle around the babies.

"What are my grandbabies’ names?" Bruce asked.

"David Alfor and Jacob Xavier," Keith replied.

Keith’s sister, Tiffany, took little Prince David out of Dr. Gorma’s arms.

"They both have your unruly hair and Allura’s eyes! How precious!"

Lindsey took Prince Jacob out of Keith’s arms. "Son, You should go get some sleep now. Because these little guys are gonna keep you up all night."

Little did Lindsey know these twins would actually have them up double time each night.

Keith followed his mom's instructions and went to take a nap. Then he made an announcement to the people that the heirs to the throne had been born today. It was truly something to give thanks about. He was sorry they couldn’t make it for Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe he’d suggest having a late one tomorrow night to include the new additions.
